Many painters are afraid of the blank canvas, but the blank canvas is afraid of the truly passionate painter who dares – and who has once broken the spell of “you can’t” once and for all.
It’s time to scratch an itch I’ve had for a while.
Writing is a challenge to me. Just like in software development, it’s easy to fall into the trap of not being satisfied until something is perfect. More often than not, that leads to never releasing anything.
Seth Godin had a great post recently about barriers to writing, and hitting home the need to practice publicly. Rather than constantly revising until a product reaches an imaginary level of quality, release early, release often, and learn from mistakes and missteps.
So here we are at 1.0 - every post is a new project released to the public, and there will be a new post every (week)day for the next two weeks to get things started. I’m looking forward to talking about technology, code, and the inherent creative processes involved. Watch this space.
